Mix up these quick and easy DIY beauty recipes straight from the kitchen of our skincare professionals!
It’s likely no surprise that the team here at Pure Vanity Spa loves beauty products. We consider ourselves expert sniffers, swipers, dabblers, mix masters and testers of face and body potions. While we each have a few long-time product faves, we are all fans of the Pure Vanity skincare line—many of which were created with the expert input of our aestheticians. Yes, we are product snobs. Not only do we like to be up on the latest skincare ingredients but we also live for making sure our clients are using the very best products for the long-term health of their skin.
But sometimes, simplicity rules. And it’s the simplest ingredients that yield the biggest bang for your beauty bucks. Hey, the more you save, the more you can spend on better products, right?
That said, we went to Pure Vanity aesthetician Jennifer Ezra for her help. A mom of two little ones as well as part-time crafter, Jennifer shared these three quick and easy beauty recipes that she uses and that you can easily whip for yourself at home.
Lush Lips Scrub
- 1/2 tablespoon of raw honey
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 3 tablespoons of brown sugar
Mix the three ingredients up in a bowl and transfer to jar. Use as a lip scrub weekly to remove dry, dead skin and to soften your pucker. Tip: Sterilize your DIY beauty containers first by placing them in boiling water for about five minutes and then letting them air dry and cool down before using them.
Long Live Your Lashes (and Brows!) Conditioning Treatment
- Castor oil
- Mascara container
Carefully pour the caster oil into a clean mascara container. Brush it onto clean, dry lashes and brows before you go to bed at night. You can add a little vitamin E to the treatment as well. If you can’t find a mascara tube like the one pictured, you can dip a Q-tip into the oil and apply to your lashline and brows as well. Caster oil is rich in omega-6 and 9 fatty acids, vitamin E, and minerals and is an excellent natural way to encourage hair growth.
Lighten & Brighten Facial Mask
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon yogurt
Mix ingredients together to form a paste and apply to a clean face. Leave on for 10 to 20 minutes. Turmeric has long been used as a beauty secret in Eastern cultures to soothe and brighten skin, while yogurt will naturally lift dead skin cells to illuminate your natural glow.
